About Julie

About me...
My name is Julie, and this is one of the very few photos I have of me for two reasons. Firstly, I'm usually the one taking the snaps. Secondly, I have a rare talent for managing to close my eyes at the precise moment the shutter closes. Seriously -- my eyes are closed in about 98% of photos. So I delete those pics. If I could get into other people's photo files, I'd probably delete any snaps they have of me, too.

In previous lives, I was a flight attendant, a teacher, and an instructional designer. In 2010, I decided to drop out of the workforce altogether to focus on just being mom to three of the neatest little people I know. I'm also wife to a very understanding man who never complains when he comes home to what can only be described as loosely controlled chaos. He knows how hard I work to maintain a certain level of disorder.

What I do when I'm not blogging...
I'm a dilettante, so I can always find something to interest me and keep me busy. We have a house that always needs work and has a project going. There's gardening to be done, sewing and quilting piling up, embroidery projects that are waiting patiently for attention, recipes to try, new hiking trails to explore, a stack of books to whittle down...

Why I started this blog...
Recently, I read a story about a man who loved whistling, and he whistled all day long. One day, his wife asked him if he could please stop. He protested, "But honey, I'm praising God!" She replied, "But that's not even a Christian song. You're whistling the theme song to the Andy Griffith show!"

Well, that's my reason. I feel like I was blessed with a passion for writing and an ability to do it. This blog is a meditation and a praise -- even if I'm just writing about Andy Griffith.
